The
Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture
is part of The New York Public Library.
The Schomburg Center for Research in Black
Culture is a national research library devoted
to collecting, preserving and providing
access to resources documenting the history
and experiences of peoples of African descent
throughout the world. A focal point of Harlem's
cultural life, the Center also functions
as the national research library in the
field, providing free access to its wide-ranging
noncirculating collections.
The
cellar floor is being completely remodeled
- there will be ten new scholar rooms intended
for specialized research. All the equipment
in the mechanical penthouse is being replaced.
Currently, remodeling is being done at the
first floor. A.G. Consulting is providing
HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection
services for this major renovation of the
building.
